Why XXI exists

It started in a group chat. Obviously.

Somebody said something slightly unhinged.
Everybody screenshotted it.
Somebody else said, that should be a shirt.

Unfortunately, we took that seriously.

The problem was every shirt we owned. The premium ones went see-through by the third wash. The graphic ones sounded like a fridge magnet wrote them.

So we made the one we wanted. Heavy enough to outlast the group chat drama. Blunt enough to be worth wearing. Said once, on the back, and never reprinted.

Twenty First Gen is for the generation that was raised on high hopes and replies with “k”. We're not here to motivate you. We're here to dress you while you avoid things.

The cotton

Most tees are built to be replaced.

That's the business model. Thin fabric, low price, new one in six months. We went the other way: 300 and 400 GSM, 100% cotton, cut oversized and boxy. Here's what that number actually means.

The $30 tee

150GSM

Around 140 to 160 GSM. Feels fine in the shop. Then the collar goes wavy, the side seams twist, and those little holes show up near the hem. You can read a menu through it by summer.

XXI 300

300GSM

Twice the cotton. Structured, holds a boxy line through the shoulder, breathes enough for a Australian summer. The everyday heavyweight. If you're unsure, this one.

XXI 400

400GSM

Dense, matte, and sits off the body like it was built, not sewn. Closer to a light sweatshirt than a tee. For when the tee is the whole outfit.

What GSM means

Grams per square metre. It's how much cotton you're actually getting. Higher number, denser fabric, heavier tee.

Not see-through

Dense fabric is opaque. White stays white, not whatever you're wearing under it.

Keeps its shape

Heavier jersey resists the stretching, twisting and thinning that finish off a light tee. The boxy cut stays boxy.

Hangs properly

Weight is what makes an oversized tee drape instead of cling. It's the difference between oversized and just too big.
